The Dancing Windrose

The Dancing Windrose is a satirical motion comic based on the work and philosophy of the anarcho-capitalist Ayn Rand. In an alternate reality somewhere between the present and future, The United States (as well as the rest of the world) is struck with a total economic collapse, caused by deregulation and exploitation, and throws all institutions into anarchy and chaos. The US government disintegrates and the military goes private.

Our protagonists are a husband and wife corporate power couple named Randall and Erin Krouthammer, who own a tech company based in a Southern California city called Las Fuentes. Since their luxury homes become raided and destroyed by rioters, Randall and Erin hunker down in their company tower while relying on private security forces to protect them as they fight for their survival.

Behind the works:

The philosophy of Ayn Rand is not something to be easily brushed aside. In fact, it can be argued that Ayn Rand, though her vision was seen to be a failure during her life, has won out in many ways. The divide between the rich and poor grows more and more, working class solidarity continues to disintegrate, and more of what was commonly owned and operated continues to be centralized and monopolized into the private control of a few. Those on the left, in her time and now, may have nothing but bile to spew on Rand and her works, but it can be argued that Rand has had the last laugh. The question, however, is how long can this house of cards we live in hold up?

The Dancing Windrose is a hypothetical play on what might happen if the followers of Ayn Rand got what they wanted. To show the consequences of a society based on pure selfishness.

What will make this story interesting, as opposed to other post-apocalyptic stories, is that it will be told from the perspective of the wealthy elites having to reap what they've sown.

The Meaning of the Title: "The Dancing Windrose"

Ayn Rand's most famous work "Atlas Shrugged" has a title that portrays a world in upheaval. If the Greek god Atlas, who holds up the world on his shoulders were to shrug, it would shake the world. In that similar vein, if the windrose (or "compass rose") were to dance on a map, there would be no sense of direction. Different titles, yet close to the same meaning.

Another element that will make this motion comic unique will be that it will be rendered in both 16 X 9 aspect ratio (TVs and Monitors) as well as 9 X 16 aspect ratio (Smart phones and tablets).
